We’ve seen a fair share of young adult adaptations crash and burn at the box office this year alone, but it seems that Lionsgate has the formula down pat. The one franchise that is clearly following the financially successful path of Harry Potter and Twilight is The Hunger Games, whose first entry into the franchise exceeded all expectations in spring of last year. The follow-up, however, will arrive in more heated territory come next month and while we expect it to do just fine, one last trailer has been unveiled to keep the buzz going.
While it doesn’t include much of my personal draw here, the inclusion of Philip Seymour Hoffman, there’s a good amount of new footage, but runs on the short side of just over a minute. Under the new direction of Francis Lawrence, check out the trailer below for the film also starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone and more.
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd.
