While the secret marriage of Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz has made everything about Jim Sheridan‘s upcoming thriller Dream House (also starring Naomi Watts) more interesting, the film’s gimmicky new poster reeks of a high concept gone not quite right:

Not the worst poster ever and certainly not the best, it feels like something that will play much better on a DVD cover than a framed marquee at the movie theater. Blame it on the kitsch of it all.

Nevertheless, here’s a refresher on the synopsis:

…a family that relocates into what appears to be the ideal residence in small town Connecticut. However, a father (Craig) and his family are disturbed to discover that their beautiful new home was the site of another family’s slaughter, believed to be at the hands of the husband who survived. Watts plays the family’s neighbor.

So yeah, the old ‘”another family’s slaughter” in the house you’re living in’ plot, which harks all the way back to Poltergeist, if you’re being super conservative. But Sheridan directing Craig, Weisz and Watts is intriguing on its. And also that secret marriage!
