Phil Lord and Christopher Miller must be pretty happy. Their recent animation Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs almost doubled it’s $100 million budget worldwide and got some high critical praise, even garnering a Golden Globe nomination. Now the Heat Vision Blog at THR is reporting the duo are going to make their live action debut with a big screen adaptation of the hit FOX TV show about about a group of young-looking cops working undercover in high schools. Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer was rumored for the gig, but looks like he will focus on the sequel to his fall hit. Jonah Hill is writing the script, executive producing and Heat Vision is reporting he is starring as well. Looking for Johnny Depp? That may happen too. If the script stays intact it will be R-rated, a “Bad Boys-meets-John Hughes action comedy.”

I thought Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was hilarious and I while I have never seen the original TV show, I’d welcome a raunchy R-rated version written by Jonah Hill.

What do you think of the project?
