After coupling with Julie Delpy in her often-hilarious 2 Days In New York (Sundance review here), Chris Rock is looking ahead to his next possible relationship. Talking with LA Times, he revealed that he is “trying to romance” Melissa McCarthy for an upcoming comedy project. He is hard at work on this new script, revealing that he would want MCarthy to take part in it as a couple in “boisterous dysfunction,” something that could be seen on “Jerry Springer.”

No other details we’re revealed, but Rock stated that he is looking to get in talks with the Oscar-nominated Bridesmaids actress soon. With the news out and about, I can’t imagine it will be long before that conversation happens. He already has a few things to work on as well, revealing he has a semi-autobiographical screenplay in the works in which he’d play a stand-up comedian.

Rock has been taking some time off recently, last appearing in Death at a Funeral and Grown Ups (please, don’t return for a sequel). He’ll next be heard in Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted and seen in What to Expect When You’re Expecting. As for McCarthy, she seems to be attached to just about every upcoming comedy project, but for now she has only booked Identity Theft with Jason Bateman and a bit part in Judd Apatow‘s This Is 40, out late this year.

What do you think about this duo teaming up?
