With a domestic release not even a mere ten days after Cannes Film Festival kicks off, their opening film decision was already written on the wall. They’ve selected Wes Anderson‘s Moonrise Kingdom to make its debut there come May, following in the footsteps of Woody Allen‘s Midnight in Paris and Ridley Scott‘s Robin Hood before that. Let’s hope this one performs more like the former.
Starring Bill Murray, Harvey Keitel, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and newcomers Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward, one can see the new poster that debuted today and head back for our coverage of the festival which kicks off on May 16th.
Synopsis:
Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle.
Moonrise Kingdom will hit US theaters on May 25th.
