Following up Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the latest Seth Grahame-Smith novel to get the feature film treatment is the long-gestating Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Once circled by David O. Russell to direct, he stayed on as co-writer and passed helming duties off to Burr Steers (Igby Goes Down) and today brings the first trailer.

Considering my utter distaste for Grahame-Smith’s last adaptation, this one looks to have a much more enjoyable tone, so we’ll have to wait and see if they can pull it off come early next year. Starring Lily James, Bella Heathcote, Suki Waterhouse, Ellie Bamber, Millie Brady, Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Lena Headey, Douglas Booth, Matt Smith and Charles Dance, check out the UK trailer and poster below.

Update: Watch the full trailer below.

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES is a fresh twist on Jane Austen’s widely celebrated novel. A mysterious plague has fallen upon 19th century England, the land is overrun with the undead and feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is a master of martial arts and weaponry. Casting aside personal and social prejudices, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy must unite on the blood-soaked battlefield to rid the country of the zombie menace and discover their true love for one another..
