We’ll have to see when the final nominations arrive, but Dror Moreh‘s The Gatekeepers is currently on the shortlist for nabbing the Best Documentary Oscar and now Sony Pictures Classics has delivered a gripping theatrical trailer for the film that is hitting theaters in a few months after a qualifying run.

There’s been a fair share of intense documentaries this year, most notably the wild true story of The Imposter, but this film may one-up it. Heading overseas, Moreh takes a look at the Shin Bet, a top Israeli security agency whose activities and membership are closely held state secrets. Featuring actual interviews with members including Ami Ayalon, Avi Dichter, Yuval Diskin, Carmi Gillon, Yaakov Peri and Avraham Shalom, the film will also pop up at Sundance and one can see the trailer below.

The Gatekeepers hits theaters February 1st, 2013.
