With Triple Nine delayed to next year, this fall brings two new features featuring Kate Winslet, one being Danny Boyle‘s Steve Jobs and the other a leading role in the 1950s set romantic drama The Dressmaker. Hailing from Australia, where it’ll be released there in October, we now have the first international trailer.

Directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse (Proof) the film follows Winslet as Tilly, an avenging angel who returns home to the remote Australian country town from which she fled as a child after being accused of murder. Although ostracized, Tilly, an exponent of stunning ’40s haute couture, liberates and empowers the town’s women with her wit and her fashionable designs. She eventually finds unexpected love and is able to exact revenge on those who wronged her.

While that official synopsis hints at a film with darker undertones, they certainly aren’t present here, selling more of an all-audience crowdpleaser that, unfortunately, looks to give away more than we’d hoped. Nonetheless, hopefully it’s another strong performance piece for Winslet. Also starring Liam Hemsworth, Sarah Snook, Hugo Weaving, and Judy Davis, check out the trailer below.

The Dressmaker hits Australian theaters on October 29 and is awaiting U.S. distribution.
