Earlier this month we reported McG’s next project, a romantic comedy titled This Means War. Due to “creative concerns” and the fact that Todd Phillips‘ Hangover sequel is set to shoot in the fall, soon after McG’s July start date, it looks like Bradley Cooper has dropped out [EW].
This Means War is the tale of two best friends, inseparable since childhood, who fall in love with the same woman (Witherspoon). The two men’s bond disintegrates and their ensuing battle escalates to mammoth proportions, with New York City demolished in their wake.”
Good riddance. The project, which has been floating around Hollywood for over 10 years, seems like typical schlock. The synopsis sounds a bit too big for it’s own good and I would rather see Cooper take on more interesting projects.
Were you looking forward to Cooper in McG’s next film? Are you glad he moved on to the next Hangover?

Variety (via /Film) have confirmed that Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) will star in Joe Carnahan’s thriller The Grey. Carnahan’s blockbuster adaptation A-Team, set to be released on June 11, also stars Cooper, so there is hopefully a promising director/actor relationship forming there. /Film reports The Grey’s synopsis as follows:
The story is about a group of Alaska pipeline workers who crash land while flying back into civilization after being remote for a few months. The survivors begin to be hunted by a pack of rogue wolves.
Carnahan co-wrote the film along with Ian Jeffers, with Ridley and Tony Scott’s Scott Free set to produce. Variety reports that the film is being made for $34 million,. With such limited information, I’m not ready to get overly-excited for this film, although the quick re-teaming of Carnahan and Cooper is certainly something worth noting.
Which upcoming Carnahan/Cooper film are you more excited for: The A-Team or The Grey?

Valentine’s Day has the bare resemblance of a plot, is filled with annoying characters exchanging tried cliches and leaves one with nothing to remember. Yet, I enjoyed it. As a hodgepodge of love and all the things that comes with it on the ridiculous holiday, the film manages to entertain for it’s two hour run-time. With a cast filled out by (take a deep breath) Bradley Cooper, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, Julia Roberts, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Kathy Bates, Jamie Foxx, Patrick Dempsey, Topher Grace, Queen Latifah, Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift, George Lopez, and Emma Roberts there leaves little time for any personal connection amongst the characters, nor the audience. Though, this smorgasbord of characters is a good thing for a film of its kind. Read the full story

Call it a shot at financial salvation? After three studio-supported box office near-misses (Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, We Are Marshall, Terminator Salvation), director McG is setting up to discover his softer side.
The film’s called This Means War, starring Reese Witherspoon and Bradley Cooper to be produced by Fox. McG, Witherspoon and Cooper are all un-signed to the project, however.

The trailer for Joe Carnahan’s (Smokin Aces, Narc) A-Team has (accidentally?) been uploaded online by a Canadian newspaper and was previously only available to those in that country. We at TFS have figured a way around that for the entire world’s viewing pleasure. The film also stars Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), Liam Neeson (Taken), Sharlto Copley (District 9) and Quentin ‘Rampage’ Jackson. Ridley and Tony Scott are producing. Check it out below quickly, as it may get taken down. It’s low quality, but that’s all we have for now. You can also check out the trailer this weekend before Daybreakers. Read the full story

According to CHUD, sources close to the upcoming sequel to The Hangover are saying that the next installment will take place in Thailand… Yes, Thailand. Director Todd Phillips says that the film is still in the scripting stage and this is only one of the many ideas they are planning. Apparently sources also told CHUD that Phillips originally wanted Thailand to be the setting for the scrapped sequel to Phillips other comedy classic, Old School. So maybe this is something Phillips has been planning for a long time. Read the full story

Screen tests have been completed for Warner Brothers latest super hero film adaption, Green Lantern. What this means according to The Hollywood Reporter, is that the choices for the lead role have already been narrowed down to just three people. Justin Timberlake, Ryan Reynolds, and Bradley Cooper are the men the studio has selected for its final choices. The drama however comes into play as rumors fly that the films director Martin Cambell and producer Donald De Line don’t like any of those choices and want others.
The thing that is most interesting in the studios choices however is that all three of them are almost exclusively known for their comedies. Musician Timberlake, has little acting experience outside of his sketch comedy roles on Saturday Night Live and similar shows. Bradley Cooper has pretty much only starred in sitcoms such as Wedding Crashers, Yes Man, and The Hangover. And lastly, Reynolds, who has only taken roles in sitcoms such as Scrubs and movie roles in comedies like The Proposal. Essentially, the message Warner Brothers is sending across is that Green Lantern is going to be a comedy or at least filled with humor. Either way, reports say that the decision is being pushed and will be made soon. We could know who gets the role as soon as next week.

Who do you think will make the cut…the comedic Bradley Cooper, the slightly more intense Ryan Reynolds, or the inexperienced actor Justin Timberlake?
