We’ve gotten our fair share of early looks at Tim Burton‘s upcoming, gothic-hued Dark Shadows. This began with the Entertainment Weekly-endorsed image back in September, and was soon followed by a series of set photos that gave us our first up-close glance at Johnny Depp‘s blood-thirsty Barnabas Collins. And thanks to STYD, we now have the first still that pits Depp against Michelle Pfeiffer, one of his many big-name co-stars.

The supporting cast is rounded out by Chloe Grace Moretz, Helena Bonham Carter, Jackie Earle Haley, and Eva Green. I actually quite like the vibe of this image — it seems more attuned to the pitch-black vein of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, which I found to be leagues better than the director’s more-recent Alice in Wonderland. In any event, we can always expect dazzling design details from Burton and his team — let’s just hope he has a story that can breathe life into them this time around.

Dark Shadows will hit theaters on May 11th, two weeks before the theatrical debut of Wes Anderson‘s Moonrise Kingdom, which received its trailer today. Looks like May will be housing two of the more anticipated early-year releases of 2012.

What do you think of the new image?
