With Liam Neeson returning for Taken 2, all that was needed was someone to actually get taken. Who better than someone that has already gone through the experience? Deadline reports that star of the first film, Maggie Grace, has signed on to reprise her role. While we aren’t sure if she will actually get fully taken again, I’m confident she won’t stay out of harm’s way the entire film.

For the film Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen (The Transporter series, The Fifth Element) have written the script, but it looks like Olivier Megaton, who directed The Transporter 3 and the upcoming Colombiana with Zoe Saldana will helm the actioner. Since Taken, Grace has been seen in Faster, Knight and Day, and stars with Guy Pearce in the Besson-produced Lockout (hitting theaters early next year). She will also appear in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 & 2.

Depending on their schedules, Taken 2 will begin production at the end of this year or the beginning of 2012. Don’t expect to see it in theaters until 2013, I’d say around that January/February sweet spot that saw a $146 million domestic take for the modestly budgeted original.

What do you think about Maggie Grace returning? Do we need a sequel?
