Having made an impression on Hollywood with 2010’s Oscar-nominated Incendies, director Denis Villeneuve already has two high-profile films in the can. He recently wrapped up production on WB’s Prisoners, starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, and while that film is set to bow in the fall, we expect another project with the latter star to land around the same time.
An Emeny is a thriller that brings together Gyllenhaal, Mélanie Laurent, Sarah Gadon and Isabella Rossellini. Pathe recently put up the first image from the film and have since taken it down, but thankfully a Tumblr was able to grab it. The distributor also briefly had the title changed to Enemy Within, so don’t be surprised if that adjustment resurfaces. In the meantime, check out the official synopsis below and the first look of a double Gyllenhaal above.
An Enemy is a mysterious thriller played out in the subconscious of a man in emotional crisis. Gyllenhaal plays Adam, a teacher, living with his girlfriend Mary. He discovers a physically identical man, an actor called Anthony, living nearby with his wife, Helen. But are Adam and Anthony two men? Or does one only exist in the imagination of the other?
An Enemy will likely premiere on the fall festival circuit.
