Arriving in theaters this Friday is a cinematic experience like none other this year, Richard Linklater‘s Boyhood. If you’ve been reading the site since its Sundance premiere six months ago, then you know why its approach is something to look forward, but that’s certainly not the only reason, as our review details. Far from a gimmick, its 12-year production is simply one aspect that makes this journey worth taking this summer, and now we know exactly when you can do so.

IFC Films, who have financed the production since its beginning and will distribute, have released its expansion plans, which begins after a theatrical bow in NY and LA this Friday and leads all the way through October. Along with the list, we’ve also included a featurette that sells why this project is worth seeking out, along with extensive conversations with Linklater and stars Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette, and Ellar Coltrane. Check out the complete list below, pick up tickets here, and see more from the film here, including a stream of the full soundtrack, behind-the-scenes footage, and our review.
