It just keeps on getting better. With Matthew McConaughey set to lead Christopher Nolan‘s sci-fi epic Interstellar, he’s recently brought aboard Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Bill Irwin and his go-to actor Michael Caine. Now Casey Affleck has revealed that he’ll also be headed to space this fall. In an interview with Elle (via Nolan Fans), while at the Ain’t Them Bodies Saints premiere, he simply said, “I’ve got a movie coming out at Thanksgiving called Out of the Furnace, and I’m going to work on a Chris Nolan movie in the fall.”
There’s no details on his role yet, but we know the story “depicts a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest borders of our scientific understanding.” It is described as a “complex and multi-layered” sci-fi picture that follows “explorers [who] travel through a wormhole,” with conceits such as alternate dimensions and time travel working their way in. Chastain also recently opened up to E! about getting the script while shooting Miss Julie in North Ireland.
“They put someone on a plane and flew them to Ireland and then drove them two hours to my location to hand me the script to read,” says The Tree of Life actress. “That’s how secret this movie is. There’s no email. There’s no FedEx. Someone gets on a plane from L.A. and flies to Northern Ireland.” Regarding the script, she says, “I gave it back to the very nice gentleman and he got back on a plane and went back to L.A.” It sounds like there’s lots of surprises in store, as expected with a Nolan feature; hopefully they stay concealed until late next year.
Shooting, with the help of cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema, will commence this summer for a November 7th, 2014 release. In the meantime, Affleck’s stellar Ain’t Them Bodies Saints opens in August.
