With Nicolas Cage already being one of the craziest actors in Hollywood, what could one possibly add to the mix to heighten the insanity? Director Jesse Baget may have the recipe, as Jackass star Johnny Knoxville will join the actor in his upcoming road trip drama Wild Side. Deadline reports on the project, which also has indie starlet Juno Temple (on the verge of breaking out in The Dark Knight Rises) starring in the film.
Baget, who co-wrote the script with Stefania Moscato last directed Breathless (no, not that one) with Val Kilmer and Ray Liotta. Never heard of it? Yeah, me neither and it came out this year. For his next, Baget has an assembled an interesting cast and could prove himself a worthy director, but my hope is he taps into the antics of his two leads. This one could go either way but in the meantime, check out the synopsis below.
The story follows a small-town Southern beauty queen (Temple) who is on the run from a ruthless killer (Cage) determined to retrieve diamonds he stole during a murderous heist. Lila Belle Clyde, who walks away with the loot, is a former beauty queen who wants to get away from New Orleans. To do that, she needs to elude authorities, a dogged news reporter, and Odel, a self-described wolf determined to hunt her down and recover his swag.
Production kicks off late July in Louisiana.
