Paranormal Activity 2 drew the big crowds this weekend, grossing $41.5 million in its debut. It was the 5th highest opening weekend in October ever and the all-time weekend for a horror film. It easily handled Jackass 3-D‘s second weekend, which earned an additional $21.6m. Adding to its monstrous debut, it has now totaled $87.1 million.
Red finished in third for the weekend with an estimated $15 million. Clint Eastwood‘s Hereafter stumbled out of the wide release gates, taking only $12 million.
Farther down the list, Oscar favorite doc Waiting For Superman earned $750,000 (13th place) as it continued to add theaters. It has now grossed $3.6 million.
Up next week Saw 3D gets a Halloween release, unopposed. Expect it to earn just a silly amount of money.
