Things have come full circle for the YouTube/crowd-sourced documentary from Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald, as the video streaming company have put their feature documentary Life in a Day on the site to stream for all of eternity. Or until the rights relapse and it gets taken down for copyright violation.
I loved the film at Sundance and it made a spot in our Best Films of 2011 (so far), where we said, “this living, breathing time capsule of a documentary is a truly global experiment: assembled from over 4,500 hours of footage from 80,000 filmmakers in 140 countries. [The filmmakers] have crafted a hypnotic, funny, heart-rending, eye-opening and unexpectedly moving account of a single day, July 24, 2010.” One can now see it below, in 25 different languages.
