In a set-up that we could safely call cineaste catnip, Béla Tarr‘s Sarajevo Film Academy held a discussion between Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Carlos Reygadas following their screening of the latter’s most recent feature, Post Tenebras Lux. Although the former expectedly takes a moderator’s position, his questions prove revealing: what he found interesting, what he wants to know, and how he frames questions for contemporaries.
This also goes for a Tarr-Apichatpong pairing that followed the Film Academy’s Cemetery of Splendor screening. It’s enough in the way of high-art masters to make your heart race — or, perhaps more accurately, put you in a deeply contemplative mood.
