After his zombie thriller Train to Busan had a very successful run last year garnering around $135 million worldwide — and interest in a Hollywood remake — director Yeon Sang-ho has begun shooting his next feature.
Titled Psychokinesis, it’s intended to be an action-packed black comedy film, one that’s anticipated to have a 2018 release per Danny Lee, director of international business at Contents Panda. As reported by Screen Daily, Ryu Seung-ryong leads the film as an “ordinary guy who suddenly finds he has superpowers he can use to help his spirited daughter (Shim Eun-kyung) and the people around them, but also runs into trouble in the process.”
Also starring Train to Busan‘s Jung Yu-mi, the director adds, “I’m honored to be working with these good actors and staff again. I’ll make a good film that lives up to everyone’s expectations.” In what sounds to be as close to a superhero film as we can imagine, hopefully the director adds something fresh compared to the tired, IP-based output we get here in the United States.
