With Batman behind him, Christopher Nolan is hard at work on his next project, another original sci-fi epic that was once in the hands of Steven Spielberg. Interstellar won’t arrive until some eleven months from now, but, today, we have our first look — and while the footage itself is fairly brief, it certainly succeeds in getting us intrigued at the otherworldly possibilities. As we’ve previously learned, his film details the toll climate change has taken on agriculture, with corn standing as the last remaining crop.
This first preview, featuring voiceover from our lead, Matthew McConaughey (and even a shot or two of him), shows off the crop, while footage of human accomplishments are interspersed throughout. Then we get the faintest hint of our scientists embarking on a journey, one that will take them through a wormhole into other dimensions in search of somewhere other crops can be grown.
