Set for a world premiere on Sunday at the New York Film Festival, the first trailer for Simon Curtis‘ My Week With Marilyn has finally arrived. Michelle Williams takes top honors portraying the starlet, and she is joined by Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Dominic Cooper, Emma Watson, Julia Ormond, Dougray Scott, Zoe Wanamaker, Toby Jones, Philip Jackson, Geraldine Somerville, Derek Jacobi and Simon Russell Beale.
Williams, who has recently delivered stunning performances in both Blue Valentine and Meek’s Cutoff, looks like the perfect actress to portray the iconic figure. I’m interested to see how Curtis will pack in much of her life when the film only takes place over a week. Judging from the “Hollywood” footage it looks like there will be some sort of flashbacks. For now, see the trailer below and check back for our review when we see on Sunday here in New York.
Synopsis:
Colin Clark met Marilyn Monroe while working as a young assistant on Laurence Olivier’s “The Prince and the Showgirl.” When Marilyn experienced emotional difficulties during shooting, the 23-year-old third assistant director came to her aid and romance developed. But one week of honesty and fun was not enough to save the doomed star from self-destruction.
My Week With Marilyn hits theaters on November 4th, 2011.
