This is one of the many films I was looking forward to at Toronto International Film Festival but missed. Dagur Kári‘s The Good Heart stars Brian Cox and Paul Dano. Vulture has the poster premiere and release details below, as well as the trailer (via The Playlist). Check them out.

Note: If you are having trouble viewing the trailer, check it out here.

Plot: ‘Heart’ tells the story of Lucas (Dano), who attempts suicide and meets bar-owner Jacques (Cox) while in the hospital. The two quickly form a friendship and Lucas starts to work in Jacques’ bar. Jacques plans to have Lucas continue his position as manager of the dive bar but his intentions may be thwarted when Lucas takes up a love interest. The film apparently takes a “dramedy” slant, as Kári, commenting in the film’s presskit, seeks to “mix humor with poetry and comedy with tragedy.”

I really enjoyed L.I.E., the last time these two actors were together and the breakout role for Paul Dano who has since been seen in Little Miss Sunshine and There Will Be Blood. Brian Cox is also a  fantastic character actor and I can’t want to check this movie out.

Magnolia will release The Good Heart in theaters on April 30 and on VOD services on April 2.
