Tom Hardy stopped by the Alan Carr: Chatty Man show recently to receive his BAFTA Rising Star Award, and also talked about his career including The Dark Knight Rises and possible Inception sequels. To get the latter out of the way, the star said the cast signed on for Inception sequels, but that usually always happens for big Hollywood films. While we aren’t likely to get any sort of sequel, if we do, it is nice to hear the ensemble will be back.
Hardy went on to talk about his character in The Dark Knight Rises. Bane, who previously appeared in Batman and Robin, wore a gimp mask and was nothing more than a silly thug. When asked if he had to don the mask again, he replied:
Well, only if I feel like it. No. Again Chris Nolan will revisit that territory entirely. I wouldn’t go by that at all. Plus, that’s a lot of weight to put on and I’ve gotta start shooting in May so I’m gonna go pack up to about 13 – 14 stone [198 lbs]. I’m 12 [168 lbs] and a bit now so I’ve got 3 months to do that. It is obvious information that Nolan will change up the character from what we’ve seen before, but seeing Tom Hardy openly talk about the role for the first time is fun. Check out the TDKR talk below and the full video here.
In other TDKR news, Collider was over in Bucharest visiting the set of Ghost Rider 2 and sources said they will definitely be shooting some of Nolan’s film here; specifically at People’s Palaces, which can be seen below:
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 2012.
