It has been reported that Sylvain White’s comic book adaptation The Losers has been bumped from its April release date to a June 4th release. One possible reason for the delay is Warner Brothers wanting to give its other April release, Clash of the Titans, a little space. The new release date will place Losers one week ahead Fox’s The A-Team, the two films offering trailers that promise essentially the same thing: ensemble actions films about a former government group on the outs and looking for a way back in, or at least some revenge.

Perhaps an extended synopsis of The Losers will separate the two films a bit more. Let’s try it:

The Losers is based on the comic book series by the same name, written by Andy Diggle (screenplay by Peter Berg), focusing on a former Special Forces team. When the group is betrayed by their handler, Max, the group realigns for vengeancee.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen, Taking Woodstock) plays Colonel Franklin Clay, the leader of the group, and the one who carries the largest grudge against Max (Jason Patric). Chris Evans (Fantastic Four, Push) plays Jensen, a hacker with a trouble-causing motormouth. Idris Elba (Obsessed, The Unborn) plays Rogue, the team’s second-in-command, motivated by greed. Oscar Jaenada (Skizo, Todos estamos invitados) plays Cougar, a talented sniper known for his cowboy hat and dark demeanor. Columbus Short (Whiteout, Quarantine) plays Sgt. Linwood ‘Pooch’ Porteous, a pilot with the reputation of being able to handle any type of vehicle.

After the team is betrayed, The Losers are contacted by a woman named Aisha, played by Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek), who also craves revenge.

Do you think the summer is a better release time for The Losers?
