Win Butler got the director of his favorite film (Brazil) to direct his very own concert. Famous documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker did it earlier this year with The National, now Terry Gilliam has his turn. AP is reporting that the Brazil, 12 Monkeys and Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus director will direct the live webcast of Arcade Fire‘s August 5th show Madison Square Garden in NYC.

This will be the first in a series of five streamed concerts (John Legend and The Roots planned so far) titled Unstaged. American Express is sponsoring the YouTube-streamed concert, which will begin at 10pm EST on Aug. 5th.

Check out Pennebaker’s National concert here, but I’m sure Gilliam will bring a much different taste. It is unknown whether he directed the teaser for the concert below, but check it out nonetheless (click if it is not loading for you).

Arcade Fire‘s latest album The Suburbs (which I’m absolutely loving) hits stores August 3rd. You can stream the concert live on YouTube at 10pm EST on August 5th and I’m sure they will have the clips up later.

UPDATE: You can stream the full concert here when the time comes. Meanwhile, check out the promo video featuring the closing track of their new album.

Are you a fan of Arcade Fire? Are you excited to see Terry Gilliam direct their concert?
