Scifi Wire had a chance to sit down with upcoming Inglourious Basterds director Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino stated during the interview that once he finished press for Basterds he is going to focus on the Blu Ray release for his previous film Kill Bill. “I’m not going to monkey around with the movie itself, but we’ve actually done a whole new section for the anime as the last thing .” The anime he is referring to will be an extra section in the series that will complete Tarantino’s original script for the story. In terms of it’s production he stated “Production IG just did it, and I just need to work with them a little bit and go over it with them.” Yes, the anime is finished and is just waiting for final approval. This is great news because this means we could see a Kill Bill Blu Ray by holiday time. Tarantino also took a quick second to talk about the progress (or lack there of) made on the Grindhouse DVD. “We’ve just been lazy getting around to Grindhouse, the full edition.” Yup, no progress has been made yet so don’t get your hopes up for the Christmas list.

I am super excited for the Kill Bill Blu Ray. I got a chance last year to sit down and watch both volumes back to back for the first time and it was one of the greatest films I had ever seen. To know that the Blu Ray edition is going to be packed to the rim with extras makes me quite excited. As for the Grindhouse DVD, I am not going to shed a tear but I am a bit disappointed. Grindhouse is meant to be a full double feature. The films belong together (with the trailers) and I hope progress is made on it soon.

Did you like Kill Bill and Grindhouse? Looking forward to the Blu-ray and Basterds?
