It’s not exactly breaking news that Robert Downey Jr. is one of the biggest male stars in Hollywood right now. Jumping from project to project, deciding which one is best while everyone wants a little Downey. And since he is quite popular right now and has the ability to turn down projects and choose ones to his liking, he recently pulled out of Gravity, the thriller about survival set in space and confirmed to be directed by Alfonso Cuaron. But don’t get too upset about his leaving, for you’re newest Downey fix The Hollywood Reporter says that you can turn your eyes to How To Talk To Girls, a film currently in development and set to be released by Fox.
The idea of Girls itself is quite interesting and Downey seems to be hovering and a bit intrigued. Originally written by a 9-year-old boy, Alec Greven, the film involves his perspective on how to deal with the opposite sex. The book landed Greven a publishing contract and three other books were written with the same theme. He circled the talk show circuit with his unique story of success at such a young age.
If Downey is to get involved, he would not only appear in the film but also come on as producer, along with his business partner and wife, Susan Downey. Both of them would be joining Shawn Levy who is already involved with the project. Ben Karlin and Stu Zicherman had already wrote a draft in the past for this flick, but Susan Downey will be heading an overhaul of the script with hiring on a brand new writer. Levy says he wants to film to have a similar tone to Big. If that’s the case then we can expect it to be funny and quite cute. Let’s just hope that it retains charm and doesn’t sacrifice a little too much quality.
Insiders say that Downey is only eyeing this project and no confirmations have been made as of now. But if he does join on, we can be sure to see him in this endearing film as well as Sam Raimi‘s Oz: The Great and Powerful, which he is still currently attached to at Disney, with hopes to start shooting that remake next summer. And as for his leap from Gravity, Sandra Bullock is said to be in negotiations to star in the film and apparently Downey‘s character only appeared in the first act. They are looking for a replacement currently. No matter what happens, we know that Robert Downey Jr. is quite the busy guy lately in the world of Tinseltown.
Do you think Robert Downey Jr. is going to officially jump on this project? Would you see it if he did?
