Though you probably know Olga Kurylenko as the Ukrainian beauty in actioners like Hitman, Max Payne and Quantum of Solace (she plays even an assassin herself in Neil Marshall’s upcoming Centurion), the young actress is clearly hoping to diversify her career options with a credible role in the recently announced untitled Terrence Malick romance, starring alongside Christian Bale, Javier Bardem and Rachel McAdams.

What’s more interesting, however, is what exactly Kurylenko had to do to get the part.

Kurylenko told Total Film:

“[The audition] was mute… I spent an hour doing five different scenes that he had described. I had to say nothing. It was all in the eyes. Can you believe that? That was difficult, believe me.”

The actress explained the strange coincidence that she had just finished playing a mute killer for Marshall in Centurion.

She also mentioned meeting with auteur Lars Von Trier. Possibly to audition for his upcoming Melancholia? Penelope Cruz was once rumored, but the director is still looking for his leading lady. One wonders what Von Trier makes people do during the audition process. Shudder.

Do you like Kurylenko as an actress? Is there enough to go on to even form an opinion?
