Lone Scherfig‘s An Education is recognized by most as being the career-making vehicle for Carey Mulligan, but it also featured a promising supporting turn by the 31-year-old English actress Rosamund Pike. Since last year, Pike has been slowly but surely building an impressive resume, which will include two possible 2010 Oscar contenders: Barney’s Version and Made in Dagenham.
As expected, Pike‘s strong work has been earning her more job offers across the board, and The Playlist is reporting what might be the most interesting of all. Nick Hornby, the Oscar-nominated scribe of An Education who also wrote Fever Pitch and About a Boy, is planning to write an original comedy script with the hopes of having Pike play one of the main characters.
This is hardly urgent news, but over the years, Hornby has gained a steady following of fans of both his novels and his screenplays, and anything he is working on is likely to stir up interest. Similarly, Pike‘s recent evolvement, which will probably hit a peak once her two aforementioned contenders are released in the U.S., will surely provoke some intrigue of its own.
