Coming off his Adrien Brody-starring education drama Detachment, Tony Kaye will pursue the antonym Attachment for his next project. Tied in name only, this one will focus on “a married woman who has a one-night stand with a student. The indiscretion comes back to haunt her when the lover begins to date her daughter and stalk her family.” THR now lets us know Sharon Stone is tapped to take the lead role.

Written by Christopher Denham, who you have seen in such movies as Shutter Island and Duplicity, this will mark a return for Stone in the genre after making an iconic turn in films like Basic Instinct. She’ll also be seen in the biopic Lovelace, as well as Gods Behaving Badly with Christopher Walken later this year.

I was able to see Detachment at Tribeca Film Festival and while it is messy and scattered, I was engaged by Kaye’s bold, in-your-face style. It might have had something to do with the eccentric personality introducing the film by singing a song and playing his guitar. Nonetheless, the plot for his next one seems generic, but I’m looking forward to see Stone do what she does best.

Being shopped at the Berlin Film Festival, the film will begin shooting in April.
