With a completed score courtesy of Jonny Greenwood, it looks like the finishing touches are being put on Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Inherent Vice following a shoot last year, but, unfortunately, we’ve still got awhile to go before we’ll see the film. While we were lucky enough for The Master to get a bow in early fall, Warner Bros. is putting out his upcoming work on December 12th, 2014.
With a cast led by Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Josh Brolin, Benicio del Toro, Jena Malone and many more, the film follows Larry “Doc” Sportello, a pot-smoking detective on a kidnapping case in 1970′s Los Angeles. With a late-year release, our most-anticipated film of 2014 will go up against Ridley Scott‘s Exodus and the family film Paddington, but it remains to be seen which film festival it will bow at, if it all. There’s the chance he could return to Cannes after Punch Drunk Love, but with this slot, we’d say Venice or TIFF is more likely.
In other release date news for Warner Bros., they’ll be dropping Entourage alongside Jurassic World on June 12th, 2015, while Nancy Meyers‘ comedy The Intern, starring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro opens on September 25th, 2015.
