With shooting wrapping up last week in New Orleans for the next film from The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford director Andrew Dominik, we now have the very first still. Cogan’s Trade features an astounding ensemble cast including Brad Pitt, Casey Affleck, James Gandolfini, Javier Bardem, Sam Rockwell, Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, Richard Jenkins, Ray Liotta, and Sam Shepherd.

The first still from Screen Daily (via The Playlist) features Pitt as Jackie Cogan, “a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that takes place during a high stakes poker game held under the protection of the mob.” The Assassination of Jess James was one of my favorite films of the past decade, and with this and The Tree of Life, it’s great to see Pitt take on these modestly-budgeted, arthouse-geared flicks in between the blockbusters. Check it out below.

The Weinstein Company will release Cogan’s Trade in early 2012.

What do you think of the first still? Were you a fan of Dominik’s last film?
