Despite production kicking off late last year, Robert Rodriguez is still filling out his cast for the much-anticipated follow-up to his hit Sin City. As we’ve recently learned, Bruce Willis will be resurrected for the film, titled Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, and Mickey Rourke, a dancing Jessica Alba, Michael Madsen, Rosario Dawson and Jamie King are all returning, alongside newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Ray Liotta, Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Dennis Haysbert and Juno Temple.
We’ve now got two new additions, including the aforementioned A Dame to Kill For, as Rodriguez announced in a press release today that Eva Green will be joining the project as the titular character. Described as “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares,” Green’s character name is Ava Lord. Also joining the cast is Julia Garner as a young stripper opposite Gordon-Levitt’s Johnny.
Previously featured in Martha Marcy May Marlene, Perks of Being a Wallflower and the Sundance horror film We Are What We Are (review here), this is easily Garner’s biggest role yet. Green also seems like a great fit for the production, as the filmmakers said her character “is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green.” Check back for more details on the film, with our first look at footage expected to arrive this summer.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For opens on October 4th.
