Exactly one month from today we’ll be getting the next film from Woody Allen and after our first trailer, a new batch of images have landed. Hinting at a darker character study then his recent batch of films, Blue Jasmine follows Cate Blanchett’s character through the final stages of an acute crisis as a fashionable New York housewife. These new stills (via IMDb/EW) show off more of our ensemble, including Alec Baldwin, Bobby Cannavale, Andrew Dice Clay, Peter Sarsgaard, Sally Hawkins and more.
Allen opened up a bit about the film, saying, “Jasmine is in freefall and has to leave behind everything she knows and has expected. She’s entering the realm of absolute unknown, moving from one coast to the other, from one social set to the other, one class to another.” Speaking about Andrew Dice Clay, who plays the first husband of Hawkins (Blanchett’s sister), Allen says, “I always thought Andrew could be a wonderful actor in the right circumstances. He’s a great type and he’s got a wonderful quality. He’s a guy who not only does the written lines you give him but he builds the character himself. He adds things, never in a pushy way, but in a creative way.” Check out the images above and below.
Blue Jasmine opens on July 26th.
