When the first trailer landed for the feature-length update to Charles Schulz‘s classic comic Peanuts fears arose over the animation style, among other things. We’ve now got a new full-length trailer that provides a better look at what’s in store for the project, directed by Steve Martino (Ice Age: Continental Drift), and produced by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids). Featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the gang, I’m starting to open up to the design here, which takes the original style recreated in a CGI world.

The story will follow Snoopy as he imagines what’s going on in his owner’s life, including boarding his “doghouse-turned-Sopwith Camel plane and heading to Paris during World War I to engage in a dogfight with sworn enemy the Red Baron,” which can be seen in the trailer. “We really get to go into his mind and see what this crazy dog is imagining every day of his life,” producer and writer Craig Schulz, son of the Peanuts creator, tells USA Today. Featuring only original characters with no newcomers to this world, perhaps this one will honor the original; let us know what you think in the comments below.
