Inception stars Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have both been rumored for Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises for quite awhile, but now we have official confirmation from a WB press release.
Gordon-Levitt joins the film as John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon. Cotillard will play Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member helping a grieving Bruce Wayne with his father’s philanthropic endeavors. Nolan said the following about their casting:
When you collaborate with people as talented as Marion and Joe, it comes as no surprise that you would want to repeat the experience. I immediately thought of them for the roles of Miranda and Blake, and I am looking forward to working with both of them again.
The cast now includes Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Nestor Carbonell and Michael Caine, and newcomers to the franchise Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, and Juno Temple.
Last week we got news that Daniel Sunjata will play a courageous special forces operative, Diego Klattenhoff has been cast as a rookie cop who is looking to make a difference and Burn Gorman has been cast in an unknown supporting role. The Social Network‘s Josh Pence will play young Ra’s Al Ghul in flashbacks.
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012.
What do you think of their roles and casting?
