That Oscar-nominated performance in Moneyball seems to be doing a lot of favors for Jonah Hill. Aside from starring in one of the best and most successful comedies of the year thus far with 21 Jump Street, many offers are coming his way for high-profile, more serious fare. The latest teams him with one of Hollywood’s greatest directors, along with one of its biggest stars.
After already starring alongside Brad Pitt, THR reports that Hill is in talks to join Martin Scorsese‘s The Wolf of Wall Street with Leonardo DiCaprio. With this fifth collaboration for the duo, DiCaprio stars as stockbroker Jordan Belfort in the film based on his memoirs. Written by Terence Winter of The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire fame, the film will follow Belfort on his corrupted rise and fall of Wall Street, aided by drug and alcohol problems, leading him to a 20-month prison stint.
If negotiations go through, Hill would play the character of Danny Porus, the best friend and business partner of Belfort, who convinced him to “quit his job in furniture sales and enter the lucrative yet volatile world of stock brokering.” It’s honestly great to see Hill break out like this, with certainly his most enticing project yet. He’s still leaving time on the comedy side, with The Watch hitting this summer and is set to shoot Seth Rogen’s The End of the World this month.
The $85-million budgeted film is set to go into production this year for a 2013 release.
Do you think Scorsese, DiCaprio and Hill make a good combo?
