I think it’s all but a sure bet Jesse Eisenberg is getting an Oscar nomination for The Social Network, but he’s not just going to sit back and rest on his laurels; not when there are movies to be made people! The Wrap has reported that Eisenberg has officially signed on to the indie comedy Free Samples directed by Jay Gammill. Others casted include mumblecore favorite Jess Weixler, Jason Ritter, Keir O’Donnell, Tippi Hedren, Hallie Pfeiffer, Matt Walsh, and Jocelyn Donahue.
Free Samples stars Weixler as a woman who becomes a server on a food truck after dropping out of law school. Dealing with her dead end job and no idea of what to do for her future, a young man (Eisenberg) begins to court her. Insert indie quirkiness here, rinse, and repeat.
Honestly, it sounds like another generic indie comedy and after sitting through some painful ones, I’m pretty burned out on them. Still, more power to Eisenberg for sticking to some indie roles even when it’s all but set in stone that he’s going to become a ridiculously huge star. At least until his younger sister Hallie returns to take him on. Two Eisenbergs enter, one Eisenberg leaves.
Production on Free Samples is currently underway in Los Angeles, and there is no known release date yet.
Any interest in Free Samples or Jesse Eisenberg in particular?
