Before he officially joins the Marvel team with his take on Ant-Man, director Edgar Wright was thankfully able to complete his loose trilogy that began in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Hitting international theaters next month and U.S. screens in late August, The World’s End may not only signal the end of the planet, but it also caps off Wright’s Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy.
For those new to the series featuring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and more, or perhaps just need a refresher, IGN has compiled a featurette with the cast and crew which details precisely how these three films are connected and the specific touches in each. The 5-minute piece also includes new footage from the upcoming trilogy final and if one wants to see more, a new trailer featuring all three films is also embedded below.
Synopsis:
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
Also starring Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, and Rosamund Pike, The World’s End will open in the U.K. on July 19th, followed by a U.S. release on August 23.
