We almost got two major horror remakes this spring, but with a last-minute release date shift of the Carrie reboot, Evil Dead stood as the lone survivor. While that Sam Raimi-produced update has turned out better than expected, it’s time for the remake of the Brian De Palma film to (hopefully) follow suit and tonight we have our first full-length trailer for fall-bound horror film.
Directed by Kimberly Peirce (Boy’s Don’t Cry) this new take on the 1976 horror classic Carrie sees Chloe Grace Moretz taking over for Sissy Spacek, while Julianne Moore slides into the role of religious mother. Although there has been talk that this will divert from De Palma’s film, the structure seems remarkably similar judging from this trailer. It unfortunately doesn’t seem to have the sheer visual power of the classic, but if it comes halfway there, it should be solid in its own right. Check out the trailer below.
Carrie arrives on October 18th, 2013.
