With production recently kicking off on the adventure drama Everest, from 2 Guns director Baltasar Kormákur, Universal Pictures have now unveiled the first still. Seen above, Jason Clarke leads the pack in the story based on Into Thin Air author Jon Krakauer true account, with Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, and John Hawkes not far behind. Tracking their journey to conquer the world’s highest mountain, the script is by Mark Medoff (Children of a Lesser God) and Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire), and one can see the official synopsis below.
Inspired by the incredible events surrounding a treacherous attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, EVEREST documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest of elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.
We’ve also got the first still from the forthcoming heist comedy The Forger, which is looking for acquisition at the European Film Market. Led by John Travolta, Christopher Plummer and Tye Sheridan, the film is directed by longtime TV helmer Philip Martin with a script by Richard D’Ovidio (The Call, Exit Wounds). Check out the still above and the synopsis below.
THE FORGER tells the story of a former child art prodigy and second generation petty thief, Ray Cutter (Travolta) who arranges to buy his way out of prison to spend time with his ailing son, Will Cutter (Sheridan). Ray and his father, Joseph Cutter (Plummer), must come together to carry out one last big job for the syndicate who financed his early release.
Everest arrives on February 27th, 2015, while The Forger is expected to premiere this year.
