No, this isn’t a Pineapple Express reunion. Although we may be getting one. James Franco and Seth Rogen have two big separate films coming out and we have first looks for both. First up is for Rupert Wyatt‘s (The Escapist) upcoming Planet of the Apes prequel Rise of the Apes. You can see James Franco, Freida Pinto, and Andy Serkis (in his motion capture performance suite and camera for facial movements) below via Just Jared. WETA is developing the photo-realistic apes using Avatar-like technology.
Plot: RISE OF THE APES (tentative title) is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
Rise of the Apes hits theaters June 24th, 2011.
Next up we have the first (blurry) look at the CG alien creation for Greg Mottola’s Paul, starring Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. The alien is voiced by Seth Rogen. The image below is provided by Bleeding Cool.
Paul follows “two British comic-book geeks traveling across the U.S. encounter an alien outside Area 51” and hits theaters March 18th, 2011.
