Wasting no time after his successful Silver Linings Playbook, director David O. Russell has already begun production on his next film in and around Boston, Massachusetts and our first look at the high-profile cast has arrived. Reuniting with his Silver Linings stars Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, the currently untitled period piece also brings together Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Christian Bale and Louis C.K. We also recently got word that House of Lies actress Dawn Olivieri and The Newsroom actor Thomas Matthews will also be joining, with the former playing Cooper’s girlfriend and the latter playing Renner’s son.

Set in the 1970s and following an FBI sting operation, Eric Warren Singer‘s script circles around the true story of a notorious financial con artist (Bale) and his mistress/partner in crime (Adams), who were forced to work with an out of control federal agent (Cooper) to turn the tables on other con artists, mobsters, and politicians. At the epicenter of the entire tale, is the passionate and volatile leader of the New Jersey state assembly (Renner) who is also the local hero and mayor of impoverished Camden.

The first images from the set feature a wide range of hairstyles, with Bale going bald, Renner going wild and Cooper using hair rollers. There’s not much to glean yet, but one can see the images of our deglamed cast below for this highly-anticipated end-of-year release. And look for some of the crew to reteam yet again in the near future.

The film will hit theaters on December 13th.

Are you looking forward to O. Russell’s next film? What do you think of our first looks from the set?
