Over the last few years I’ve befriended many filmmaker friends via social networks and have had the privilege of interacting with some truly passionate movie makers who do their best to utilize new and emerging tools to help finance and market their films.
One of them stands apart from the pack and that is Gary King, who caught my eye with his previous film What’s Up Lovely, an examination of loneliness and isolation in NYC. That film is available for download via Cinefist and I highly recommend you check it out to see what kind of interesting and different films the real independent movement is capable of.
Hot off the heels of the success of his previous films, Gary decided to go a unique route to finance his next dream project, a mysterious musical entitled How to Write a Joe Schermann Song starring the very talented Christina Rose who starred in Gary’s action horror romp Death of the Dead and the titular character himself, Joe Schermann. Using the crowd-funding site Kickstarter, the ambitious filmmaker was able to raise over thirty thousand dollars to bring the music to life. After releasing a brief teaser trailer earlier this year, Gary just revealed a second trailer to his Kickstarter backers that really showcases his charismatic cinematic style and why people should be excited to see this film.
Here at The Film Stage, we are excited to exclusively reveal this trailer and showcase a truly exciting upcoming talent that everyone should be paying attention to. Check out below for an official synopsis of the film, a poster, a few stills and the exciting new trailer and be sure to follow Gary King on Twitter for the latest updates on his films.
