Every Tuesday a sign pops up in the sky and the moon looks like a big Blu-ray disc. Since the sign is up it’s time for me to go spend copious amounts of money on movies that ‘normal’ people will look at me with odd stares:

Grab ‘Em Right Away:

Fanboys (Blu-ray)

Directed by: Kyle Newman

Written by: Ernest Cline & Adam F. Goldberg

Starring: Sam Huntington, Chris Marquette, Dan Fogler, Jay Baruchel & Kristen Bell

Why should you buy this? Because it’s the best thing in the last two decades that’s related to the Star Wars franchise.  The film really isn’t the great comedy movie that will be talked about in the next 20 years ago, however as a huge fan of the Star Wars original trilogy I found this movie really enjoyable.  Including a ton of awesome cameos from numerous actors and a lot of small roles that made the movie brilliant.  I personally couldn’t stop laughing when Ethan Suplee appeared as Harry Knowles (the creator of AICN).  Also, Kyle Newman has personally promised me to cheer for Manchester United this season if everyone buys the blu-ray; so go and buy it now please.

Check it Out:

Clash of the Titans (2010)

Directed by: Louis Leterrier

Written by: Travis Beacham & Phil Hay

Starring: Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes & Gemma Arterton

Why should you rent this? Because now that you see it in a REAL 2D cinematic experience this movie is going to be a fun action film.  I went to see this at the theatre, and it promptly became the reason why I’m never going to see another movie that is made into a 3D film in post-production. Louis Leterrier is the director behind the latest The Incredible Hulk reboot and the fun film Unleashed, and if there’s one person out there who knows how to make a fun action film it’s Leterrier.  Even though the movie won’t set the world ablaze, you get some great action sequences and you get to hear Liam Neeson say “release the kraken” while using that Liam Neeson voice that we love.  It’s great.

Avoid it Like the Plague:

Repo Men UNRATED

Directed by: Miguel Sapochnik

Written by: Eric Garcia & Garrett Lerner

Starring: Jude Law, Forest Whitaker, Liev Schreiber & Alice Braga

Why should you just die and not get that artificial kidney? It’s a two hour exercise in boredom. Sapochnik tries really hard to let me care that Whitaker and Law are best of friends and having fun with each other.  However, after the first thirty minutes and Law‘s character becomes a client of the union while having to worry about his eventual repo man coming to cut him open the movie completely falls apart in a bad way. Law even eventually helps this drug addicted girl, played by Alice Braga, who I really never care about. Check out my full review here.
