Update: Since this posting Disney/Marvel has also added another film for May 16th, 2014. Let the guessing games begin and see the original story below.

With Disney acquiring Marvel, they’ve just set a new date for a currently untitled project, as well as another batch of films. First up, going by “Marvel Untitled 2” the film has a June 27th, 2014 date. Marvel usually takes the early May spot, but Sony just snagged it for The Amazing Spider-Man sequel, forcing the studio to rethink their strategy.

As to what this mystery project could be, I’d have to wager a guess for a sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger. We’ve heard talks it is moving forward and with the original being a current success, I’d assume they would want to fill in 2014 after The Avengers has next summer and Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 will take up summer 2013. There is also the chance it could be a fast-tracked Dr. Strange or another Incredible Hulk film, but stay tuned as we get more information.

They’ve also scheduled another mystery Pixar film for May 30th, 2014. This is an interesting move, as Pixar animations usually bow in last weekend of June, but they are switching up their slots. We previously took a stab at what the Pixar film headed into theaters November 13th, 2013 could be, so it could certainly be from that batch.

There is the very unlikely chance that Pixar could attempt live-action with Brad Bird‘s San Francisco earthquake movie 1906. Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich has stated he has another secret film and Toy Story 3 writer Michael Ardnt has also said he is going back to Pixar for another project. There is also Up director Peter Docter‘s next project, which we rounded up more details here. Expect two of the above to fill up these slots, unless they have a huge surprise up their sleeves.

There is also more scheduling in the animation realm. Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas director Henry Selick‘s next film has also been scheduled for October 4th, 2013 after he announced his recent move to the studio. There aren’t many details, but one can assume it is Shademaker, a film aimed to scare children, which sounds right up his alley.

Lastly, we got the trailer over the weekend, but Disney has also scheduled The Odd Life of Timothy Green starring Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Garner for an August 15th, 2012 release. Check back as we learn more about the mystery project above and all dates come from Box Office Mojo.

Which film are you most looking forward to? Any guesses what the Marvel and Pixar films could be?
