One of my favorite actors, Cillian Murphy has steadily been grabbing solid roles but has yet to really hit the mainstream conscious as his Inception co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt has. Deadline is reporting he has lined up his next project.
He will start filming The Retreat this September in Wales with Thandie Newton. Carl Tibetts, an editor who has worked on Harry Potter, Shaun of the Dead and Alien Vs Predator will be making his feature writing/directing debut. Check out the plot below.
“Murphy and Newton will play a husband and wife who rent a remote island cottage while trying to repair their marriage. One day they find a biohazard-suited soldier washed up on the beach, who warns them that everybody on the mainland has been killed by an airborne virus. That’s when the psychological fun-and-games begin.”
It sounds like an interesting premise and Cillian Murphy does pyschological suspense quite well as we’ve seen in Red Eye, Sunshine and 28 Days Later. He recently starred in Perrier’s Bounty, which I highly recommend as you can see my quote below.
