Wes Craven‘s Scream 4 is currently in production, but it sounds like things aren’t going as planned. There was rumors yesterday that scriptwriter and the man behind the series Kevin Williamson “had been let go” and was replaced by none other than Scream 3 and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen writer Ehren Kruger.

STYD reported that official reps said “Kruger has been brought in to do a bit of polishing.” and that Williamson is only leaving to work on the second season of Vampire Diaries at CW. Lauren Graham‘s recent departure has been blamed for “another case of production scheduling and she’s off to work on Parenthood.”

This could all be true, but then a peculiar tweet by director Wes Craven arose a few hours ago.

@Zap2it I have not been given control of the script. #SCREAM4

A director tweeting production problems? Doesn’t sounds good. Scream 4 hits theaters April 15th, 2011. Let’s see how this turns out….
