After director Paul Greengrass quit Bourne 4 there has been many rumors circulating on what will happen with the successful series. Last night during a UK premiere of Invictus, Empire tracked down Matt Damon and he gave some clues as to what may happen with the series:

There’ll probably be a prequel of some kind with another actor and another director before we do another one…just because I think we’re probably another five years away from doing it – we’ve got to get a script.

Damon has said before that he won’t do Bourne without Greengrass and Universal is dying to keep the popular franchise alive, so it’s no surprise they are considering this. I just can’t imagine it’s the same series if no one from the original is involved. Since we are far away from another Bourne, I’ll have to be content with the next Greengrass/Damon vehicle, Green Zone, which hits theaters in March.

Would you want to see a Bourne prequel, with a different actor and director?
