The influx of alien invasion movies is just about to begin. After the success of Cloverfield, District 9, and Avatar, the next few years will see more films of this kind than ever before. We recently had Monsters and Skyline is hitting theaters today. Our next big blockbuster is Battle: Los Angeles. After that we will see The Darkest Hour, Super 8, Extraterreste, Paul, Cowboys & Aliens, Battleship, not to mention the Avatar, Cloverfield, District 9, and possibly Skyline sequels. I’m not even counting Men In Black 3, the Alien prequels and I Am Number Four.

The latest is from Jonathan Liebesman, who recently signed on to direct the Clash sequel, Wrath of the Titans. Battle: Los Angeles stars Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Ramon Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Ne-Yo, Michael Peña and I must say, it looks pretty damn awesome. This is a great teaser that does its job, I almost don’t want to see anything else before I see it. Check it out below via Apple.

UPDATE: Collider also uncovered an international trailer, which is quite different:

Synopsis: For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world – Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world’s great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It’s up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered before.

Battle: Los Angeles hits theaters March 11th, 2011.

What do you think of the trailer? Are you ready for all these Alien invasion films?
